Objective: These are stocks that have recently seen a considerable appreciation in price on increased volume. They are also noted for their healthy fundamentals and solid technical outlook. Often when a stock increases in price in a short period, there will be a great deal of profit-taking. This screen attempts to find those stocks, whose increase in price is legitimate and likely to see further price appreciation in the future. This screen includes small, mid and large-cap companies. Ideal Market Conditions: These stocks tend to perform well in all types of markets, assuming that they are able to keep the same level of interest that originally caused their stock value to rapidly increase in the first place. Bull markets are obviously the best types of markets, and while bear markets may encourage more of a profit-taking mentality, they can still see continued price appreciation.
