Breakout of Consolidation a Must

SPX had that opportunity on Friday to really close out the month strong and breakout of that consolidation pattern that is more evident on the intraday charts than it is on the daily chart. Instead the market gave traders a gap and crap the entire day. Very little bounce and very little desire to do anything. Once again though, the Nasdaq carried the water, and continues to be the index of choice when trading this market.

Remain skeptical of the Russell Index because that move was so far beyond anything that the other indices were exhibiting. The entire index went into full sell-off mode with above average volume. This, while the SPY had below average readings.

I lessened my long exposure a little bit more on Friday, cutting one position out that just wasn’t doing anything for me and thereby lessening my exposure to the downside should that be in the near future
