My Swing Trading Approach

I’m net long following Friday’s inability to sustain a sell-off to the downside. With the rally back, I flipped back to the long side. I would like to add a couple of more positions today, should the rally off of Friday’s lows continue.

Indicators

VIX – VIX spiked early on just like it has done all the time, but unable to maintain the momentum, and gave up all the gains. Traders continue to pounce on any spike in the VIX which could ultimately create a very nasty squeeze for traders one day.

T2108 (% of stocks trading below their 40-day moving average) – 58%. Has pulled back some with the market. Still lackluster with the broader market, as more stocks should be trading above their 40-day mvoing average with the market trading at all time highs.

Moving averages: Close ot a 5/10 MA bearish crossover. 5-day moving average finally failed to hold.

Industries to Watch Today

Chemicals and biotech stocks are setting up nicely. Also keep an eye on energy, semis, and media (Bullish).

Industrials, casinos, home improvement, homebuilders and shipping stocks look like they could be setting up for a move to the downside.

My Market Sentiment

Obviously the dip buyers are still strong as usual. The shorts have blown hundreds of opportunities. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the bulls to build off of Friday’s dip buy from here.
